MENTAL MEDIUMSHIP

The reading of bones is still practiced today as a form of mental mediumship. But this practice has ancient roots in cultures worldwide. Apyromantic bone reading examined the scapula of an animal after it had been slaughtered and butchered for meat. This form of bone reading was practiced throughout Europe, the Near East, and northern Africa. In East Asia and North America, bone reading was performed after the pyromantic technique, which was to throw the animal’s bones in a fire and interpret the fire’s work on the bones.
